The speaker will be Lynda Deschambault, Moraga Kiwanis Club member and Director, Ward 2, East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD), who will give a talk titled “Parks History and the Next Generation.”
Lynda will discuss how EBRPD became the nation’s largest park district, the important role of youth, and the upcoming District plan to ensure resources, biodiversity, and watersheds are protected and client resistant.

The speaker will be Maggie McCloskey, herself a lung cancer survivor, whose presentation is entitled, “Lung Cancer Screening: Why Early Detection Matter.” The speaker will share her personal story and her responses to a number of commonly-asked questions, including (a) what screening is – and what it is not, (b) why early detection matters, and (c) who should consider screening (NOT just smokers – anyone with lungs can get lung cancer). She will also share some key U.S. lung cancer statistics (including deaths resulting from lung cancer, compared to breast, colon and prostate cancer). The Program Provider will be Mike Donovan

Carolyn Jackson, Lesher Center General Manager, will give a talk titled "Evolution of the Lesher Center." The talk will include an overview of the history and evolving programming at the Walnut Creek arts center, including highlights of initiatives in the Center’s strategic plan and a preview of upcoming events.
Carolyn Jackson is the Assistant Director of the City of Walnut Creek’s Arts + Recreation Department, serving as General Manager of the Lesher Center and Managing Director of Center REP. She oversees programming including the Headliners presentation series, Center Repertory Company, Bedford Gallery, venue rentals, and educational programs.
